About Corn Car

Filed under: Ethanol News — mrh @ 12:03 pm

Oil, as we’ve heard time and again, is an exhaustible resource. It is finite. Whimsical oil faeries do not replenish the global supply when it runs low. The drive to control it has led our country into unnecessary wars, all but ruined our international reputation, subjected parts of the third world to inhuman colonial treatment, and threatened the health of our planet. And yet, consumers are seriously expected to bow down at its altar and ignore any other alternative fuel sources that could harness cleaner, more localized energy to power our cars and machinery, heat and light our homes, and do whatever else our society’s needs dictate.

We personally feel that ethanol, be it corn or cellulose or wood pulp or unicorn fart-based, is an integral part of the overall energy solution, but it is not the only part. Hybrid cars, fuel cell batteries, geothermal power. and wind energy are important, too - oil has been a magic bullet for so long that we have become utterly and pathetically dependent on it to survive, and the times have shown us that relying on one fuel source is not sustainable. We have to branch out.

Of course, the media and certain portions of the government, fat as they are with oil lobby money, do what they can to denounce alt-fuels in the public sphere and brand its supporters as kooks and lunatic fringe environmentalists with “unrealistic” ideas about how to solve the energy crisis. And sometimes they have a point. That’s why we’ve redirected Corn Car to follow trends in the ethanol industry and, more generally, developments in alt-fuels. We’ll also take a look at what’s being done by all levels of government to help or hinder said developments, as well as how they’re being reported in the media. And of course, there will be funny pictures from time to time.

Run Your Car on Water Scam

Will we ever have a reasonably priced car that runs solely on natural resources?
